monumental Japanese imari style floor vase on rosewood stand
an incredible example of the craftsmanship of Chinese export porcelain of the 19th and mid 20th centuries. bright cobalt blue and rust colored patterns mingle with shimmering goldleaf all around the vase. two pairs of guardian fu lions or shishi are in the place of handles, and pairs of Japanese geckos join them along the neck of the vase. the vase reliefs are of Japanese geisha preparing to perform.
